Salah Scores Both Goals as Trabzonspor Beats Istanbul Başakşehir 2-1
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah scored both goals as Trabzonspor defeated Istanbul Başakşehir 2–1 in Matchday 2 of the 2026–2027 Turkish Süper Lig, earning him beIN SPORTS Türkiye’s Player of the Week award.

Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah was named Player of the Week for Matchday 2 of the Turkish Süper Lig by beIN SPORTS Türkiye, following his standout performance for Trabzonspor.
Salah’s historic brace against Başakşehir
Salah led Trabzonspor to a dramatic 2–1 home victory over Istanbul Başakşehir on Sunday evening, the second matchday of the 2026–2027 Turkish league season.
According to global sports data provider Opta, Salah became the first foreign player in the history of the Turkish Süper Lig to score two goals for Trabzonspor at home against Başakşehir.
First goal: Eighth-minute opener from a goalkeeper error
Salah opened the scoring in the eighth minute. He capitalized on a mistake by the Başakşehir goalkeeper during a cross into the penalty area. The ball fell to Salah inside the box, and he struck it; the shot hit the post before crossing the goal line.
The match referee consulted the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system to verify the goal’s validity before officially awarding it — Salah’s first goal in a Trabzonspor shirt.
Second goal: 20th-minute equalizer answered by Salah’s winner
İstanbul Başakşehir leveled the score in the 20th minute via a penalty converted by Uzbek striker Eldor Shomurodov.
Salah responded with Trabzonspor’s second goal shortly afterward, finishing a coordinated attack with teammate Muçi. His powerful shot from inside the penalty area found the back of the net.
Trabzonspor holds on for 2–1 win
Trabzonspor maintained their one-goal advantage through the remainder of the match despite repeated attempts by Başakşehir to equalize.
The final whistle confirmed a 2–1 home win for Trabzonspor — secured entirely by Salah’s two-goal contribution.
