Salah Ties Haaland's 65-Goal European Record
Mohamed Salah scored and assisted in Trabzonspor's Conference League win, reaching 65 European club goals to equal Erling Haaland.

Mohamed Salah reached 65 goals in European club competitions after scoring and assisting in Trabzonspor’s 4-2 victory over KuPS Kuopio in the Conference League. This tally places the Egyptian forward level with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland on the all-time scorers list for continental club tournaments.
Trabzonspor Match Performance
During the away fixture, Salah provided the assist for Paul Onuachu’s opening goal in the third minute. He subsequently added his own contribution in the 44th minute with a left-footed chip shot. This strike marked his first goal for Trabzonspor in European competition, following two unsuccessful attempts during the Europa League playoff round against Ferencváros.
The match also saw Salah wear the captain’s armband for the first time at the club, a role he assumed after Onuachu suffered an early injury. According to data from Opta cited by Turkish outlet 61 Saat, Salah became only the third player to both score and assist in all three major UEFA club competitions: the Champions League, the Europa League, and the Conference League. He joins Mario Götze and Cody Gakpo, his former Liverpool teammate, in achieving this specific milestone.
Historical Scoring Rankings
With 65 goals, Salah shares eleventh place on the historical rankings with Haaland. He remains two goals behind Edin Dzeko and Andriy Shevchenko, who each have recorded 67 goals in European club competitions. Cristiano Ronaldo leads the overall standings with 145 goals, followed by Lionel Messi with 132 and Robert Lewandowski with 117.
The upper echelon of the list includes Karim Benzema (92), Harry Kane (81), Raul Gonzalez (77), Kylian Mbappe (73), and Filippo Inzaghi (70). Since the 2017-2018 season, Salah has registered both a goal and an assist in 13 matches across major European tournaments, surpassing the combined totals of Messi and Ronaldo in this specific statistical category.
Season Statistics and Club History
Salah’s European career spans five clubs: Swiss side Basel, Italian teams Fiorentina and Roma, English club Liverpool, and Turkish outfit Trabzonspor. His current form at Trabzonspor during the 2026-2027 season shows eight goals and four assists in ten official matches. Seven of these goals and three assists occurred in the Turkish Super Lig, where he was named Player of the Month for September.
