Voller: Klopp to cut 44-man Germany squad in November

Rudi Voller, Germany’s sporting director, stated that Jurgen Klopp intends to discard the expansive 44-man list he assembled for recent Nations League games. The plan involves reverting to a conventional, smaller group size when the team reconvenes in November.

In an interview with Bild am Sonntag, Voller clarified the timeline for normalizing the process. "November is when it counts, then we will see Jurgen's condensed squad," he said. He added that invitations for 44 players "won't be... anymore."

Opportunities remain for overlooked players

Voller emphasized that the current composition of the team remains fluid. He noted that the existing group "is not set in stone either." This statement offers potential pathways for players who were left out of the initial call-ups, including Angelo Stiller, Deniz Undav, Maximilian Beier, and Leroy Sane.

The hierarchy expects established stars omitted from the first batch to accept the situation without special consideration or direct explanations. "That's just how it is in professional football," Voller remarked. "Sometimes you don't get selected, and you have to deal with it and prove yourself."

Pressure mounts after Greece defeat

Klopp continues to back his rotation system despite criticism following a home loss to Greece. He maintains support for splitting the initial 24-man group and the subsequent 20-man selection. However, the upcoming schedule demands immediate results.
