Wrexham Owners Eye Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar for Future Signings
Former Premier League manager Tony Pulis says Wrexham could attract football legends Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Former Premier League coach Tony Pulis has stated that Wrexham, under the ownership of Hollywood figures Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, has the potential to sign football icons such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar. Pulis highlighted the club's unique appeal as a factor that could draw these players to the Racecourse Ground.
Since Reynolds and Mac took over in February 2021, Wrexham has transformed from a struggling National League team into a globally recognized club. Their progress on the field has matched their commercial growth, with manager Phil Parkinson guiding the team through three consecutive promotions.
In their latest season, Wrexham finished seventh in the Championship, missing a play-off spot by only two points. As the club sets its sights on reaching the Premier League, speculation is growing about which top-tier players might join to support their ambitions.
Ambitions for World-Class Talent
Although signing multiple Ballon d'Or winners may seem unrealistic for clubs outside Europe's elite or the Saudi Pro League, Pulis encourages Wrexham to maintain high aspirations. He believes the combination of the owners' influence and the club's rising profile makes such signings conceivable.
Speaking to BOYLE Sports, Pulis said, "Wrexham’s next big signing? Cristiano, Messi, Neymar - why not? It’s a wonderful place, Wales. Especially North Wales. A beautiful country."
Wales as a Unique Attraction
Beyond financial resources and sponsorships, Pulis emphasized that Wales' natural beauty and culture offer a distinctive advantage in attracting global stars. Despite Messi, Ronaldo, and Neymar currently playing in the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and Brazil respectively, Pulis argued that Welsh hospitality is unparalleled.
He added humorously, "Just tell them that the sun never stops shining and the food is absolutely fantastic. Even if the weather’s wet, you wouldn’t find a warmer bunch of people than the Welsh anywhere in the world. That’s your real selling point to get a superstar over to Wrexham."
Preparing for Premier League Entry
Wrexham's goal remains to reach the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history during the 2026-27 season. Manager Parkinson has expressed confidence in his current squad, which includes five players who participated in all three promotion campaigns, while acknowledging the need for further reinforcements to compete at the highest level.
Whether Reynolds and MacElhenney can secure a signing from the football "Big Three" is yet to be determined, but the club’s recent trajectory suggests that such ambitions are not entirely out of reach.
