Dr. Maxim Sotormin, a neurology specialist, has issued a warning regarding the potential for stroke to impact individuals beyond the typical adult demographic. He noted that cases have been recorded in children between the ages of six and nine, challenging the common perception that this condition exclusively affects older populations.

Risk factors for younger patients

According to Sotormin, strokes occurring in people under the age of twenty or twenty-five often manifest as complications arising from endocrine system disorders. These incidents may also be linked to hereditary conditions or result from the consumption of specific medications.

Dietary and cognitive recommendations

To mitigate these health risks, the physician advises adopting the principles of the Mediterranean diet. This approach involves limiting the intake of fried and spicy foods, abstaining from alcohol, and avoiding overeating by relying on smaller meals.

Sotormin further recommends maintaining cognitive function through active mental engagement. Strategies include memory training, learning foreign languages, solving crosswords, reading simplified science books, and participating in competitions.

Essential medical screenings

The expert emphasizes the importance of regular medical check-ups to identify risk factors and assess patient status in a timely manner. Recommended procedures include blood tests, hemoglobin level measurements, lipid profile analysis, electrocardiograms, and ultrasound imaging of the neck vessels.

Cardiac signs of stroke

Academician Sergey Boitsov, a cardiologist, highlighted primary indicators that signal an approaching stroke. These symptoms include speech disturbances, weakness or loss of ability to move arms and legs, and facial distortion.

Boitsov advised consulting a cardiologist if shortness of breath occurs during routine physical activity, if leg swelling appears, or if high blood pressure is detected.
