Aoun congratulates Lebanese on centenary of constitution

President Joseph Aoun congratulated Lebanese citizens at home and abroad on the centenary of the declaration of the constitution and the Lebanese Republic, dated 23 May 1926. He said this year had been declared a year for the constitution.

“We recall the meanings of Lebanon’s message and identity, and the characteristics of democracy and human rights in a homeland defined by diversity and creativity,” he said. “We also reaffirm our call to organize intellectual activities to renew the constitutional spirit, deepen national feeling and entrench modernity as an approach in laws and public policies.”
