Lebanese woke up on Sunday morning to unusual weather at the end of July, as northern areas experienced scattered rain and a noticeable drop in temperatures, while light showers fell in Beirut, marking a temporary shift in weather after days of high heat.
The rain ranged from light to moderate in the areas of Tripoli, Al-Miniyah, and Deir Ammar, along with several northern coastal areas, accompanied by cooler weather compared to previous days, prompting drivers to be cautious due to wet roads and the possibility of slipping.
The Batroun coast also witnessed rain showers at dawn with dense clouds, creating a scene reminiscent of autumn in the middle of summer, after a long period of high temperatures.
The Meteorological Service had predicted these weather fluctuations, noting the effect of a weak low-pressure system centered southwest of Turkey, leading to a further drop in temperatures, increased wind activity, fog formation on highlands, and the possibility of light and scattered rain, especially in northern areas.
The Service explained that this weather condition will not last long, expecting temperatures to rise again starting from the beginning of the week, especially in mountainous and inland areas, where they will exceed seasonal averages again on Tuesday, with an increase in humidity on the coast, enhancing the feeling of heat.
