Aoun in Nabatiye on surprise visit: No new negotiations with Israel for now

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun responded to the call of Nabatiye residents and their surroundings after the Israeli escalation in the region, arriving this morning on a surprise visit to the city alongside Lebanese Army Commander General Rudolph Hikkel.

Aoun arrived at the Nabatiye government palace amid heightened security measures and the presence of the Lebanese Army, which has been stationed in neighborhoods of Nabatiye for two days as part of a broader deployment plan across southern Lebanon.

Aoun stated: "The purpose of my visit to Nabatiye is to assess citizens' needs, noting that there are no new negotiations with Israel at this time, and affirming that withdrawal, the return of prisoners and displaced persons, and reconstruction are national steadfast commitments we pledge to fulfill."

Several Nabatiye residents welcomed President Aoun and his accompanying delegation, to whom he replied: "It is our duty to stand by you, and we will never abandon you."

He added: "The reason for my visit to Nabatiye with security leaders and the Lebanese Army commander is to say that we stand with you, and we are working to ensure all services for your continued presence here and to provide safety."
