President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, congratulated the Lebanese in general and Muslims in particular on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Adha, hoping that this holiday brings with it reassurance, hope, and better days for Lebanon and its people.
He said: "Among the meanings embodied by Eid al-Adha is that it is a shared concept among all our heavenly religions. Its most sublime meaning remains that the Lord intended from this experience that we learn how not to sacrifice our children nor waste their blood, but rather to redeem them and create life for them."
He added: "The meanings of the holiday, of love, solidarity, and mutual support, remain today what we need most in light of the difficult circumstances and challenges that Lebanon is going through, especially as a result of the continued Israeli aggressions and the resulting casualties, wounded, and displaced who miss the joy of the holiday."
He explained: "We ask God to make this occasion a station to strengthen our national unity, adhere to the values of solidarity, responsibility, and love, and believe in our ability together to overcome hardships and build a future befitting Lebanon and the Lebanese. May God bring it back to our homeland with security, stability, and peace, and to all Lebanese with goodness and blessings."
