Approval of the General Amnesty Law in Lebanon
The joint parliamentary committees approved the proposed general amnesty law after introducing the following amendments.

The joint parliamentary committees approved the proposed general amnesty law after introducing the following amendments:
– Death penalty reduced to 28 years imprisonment
– Life imprisonment reduced to 18 years imprisonment
– Detainees without sentences reduced to 14 years imprisonment
– Penalties reduced to one third
– For those exiled, the provisions of Law 194 issued in 2011 were adopted and its provisions were considered effective.
And amnesty for unregulated drug use and promotion, excluding organized promotion and dealers.
Penalties were reduced in personal cases, and the following phrase was added: "Anyone benefiting from a reduction of any penalty must obtain a waiver of the personal right, but this does not apply to military crimes."
During a press conference held at the Parliament, MP Elias Bou Saab revealed that "we took into account the observations of the Ministry of Defense, Interior, and the Army."
He added: "We call on the government and the Minister of Justice to find a radical solution to trials and not to detain people without cause."
Bou Saab said: "The issue of merging was a controversial topic, and those who criticized my decision in the previous session to adjourn the session thanked me today."
He continued: "Everyone wanted to reach a result on the issue of the amnesty law."
