Armed Clash Between Army and Smuggler; Rocket Shells, Explosives, and Drugs Seized on Lebanese-Syrian Border
Lebanese Army forces engaged in an armed clash with a smuggler in Arsal, seizing drugs and weapons. Separately, troops thwarted a smuggling attempt involving rocket shells and explosives near Hermel.

On 9 / 10 /2026, following continuous surveillance of the Lebanese-Syrian border and illegal crossings used for smuggling, an armed clash occurred in the Arsal highlands between Army elements and citizen (A.B.), who works in smuggling, without any injuries, while he was attempting to smuggle a quantity of drugs from Lebanese territory to Syrian territory. He was arrested, and approximately 60 kg of hashish, 35 kg of Captagon, and 22 kg of marijuana were seized from his possession, along with a military pistol and a quantity of ammunition.
Additionally, an Army unit in the Al-Qasr - Hermel area thwarted a smuggling operation across the border, from Syrian territory to Lebanese territory, and seized a quantity of rocket shells and approximately 24 kg of highly explosive TNT material prepared for smuggling.

The seized items were handed over, and an investigation into the detainee began under the supervision of the competent judiciary. Follow-up operations are underway to arrest those involved in the explosives smuggling operation.
