Army Commander Rudolf Heikal emphasized that military delegations have no sectarian identity, highlighting the army's commitment to national unity and security amid regional challenges.

Army Commander Rudolf Heikal convened a meeting in Yarzeh attended by the command staff, unit and operational battalion leaders, and several officers. The session focused on presenting current developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as reviewing security and military conditions amid ongoing Israeli attacks and challenges related to the present phase.
Heikal opened the meeting with a moment of silence for the souls of the military institution’s martyrs, affirming that their sacrifices remain a source of pride and honor for both the institution and the nation. He stressed that the leadership venerates the martyrs and wounded and preserves their legacy, noting that during his visits to their families he observed their pride in their loved ones’ sacrifices despite great pain, along with strong confidence in the army and belief in its national role.
He extended greetings to the soldiers who continue to perform their duties across various regions, particularly in the south despite the risks and challenges, underscoring that their dedication and discipline embody the enduring values of the military institution.
He stated, "During my visit yesterday to the leaderships of the South Litani sector in Tyre and the Second Intervention Regiment in Zahrani, I drew morale from the soldiers and sensed their pride in their mission."
The meeting addressed recent security and regional developments and their impact on Lebanon. Heikal emphasized that maintaining security and stability is a steadfast national priority that prevents Israeli objectives aimed at destabilizing internal security. He affirmed that the military institution will continue to carry out its missions firmly and responsibly to prevent any threats to civil peace.
Regarding the northern and eastern borders, Heikal confirmed that relations with Syrian authorities remain good amid ongoing coordination, and that the military units responsible for border control are executing their tasks comprehensively.
He also stressed the importance of preserving Lebanese citizens’ trust in the military institution and enhancing its unity and credibility. He noted that attempts to undermine its role or cast doubt on it will not affect the determination or commitment of the soldiers to fulfill their duties. Additionally, he rejected the sectarian and political exploitation of the army’s stance concerning detainees and the rulings issued against them.
The meeting touched on the army commander’s foreign visits, with Heikal calling for refraining from speculation about them as they are pre-scheduled and aim to strengthen cooperation with the armies of brotherly and friendly countries to support the army’s capabilities, enabling it to continue fulfilling its national missions under various circumstances.
Heikal clarified that the army delegations assigned to negotiations and other missions have no sectarian identity, affirming that the army’s sect is the military uniform and the nation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Commander Heikal praised the performance of officers and soldiers, urging the continuation of work at a high level of readiness and discipline. He confirmed that the success of the military institution is based on the sacrifices and dedication of its members in serving Lebanon and protecting its people.
