Issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security - Public Relations Section:

As part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat various types of crime, intelligence information was obtained by the Intelligence Section regarding an unidentified individual extorting underage girls.

Subsequently, specialized units within the section launched field and investigative procedures to identify and apprehend the perpetrator. Following intensive inquiries and investigations, the suspect was identified as: A.M. (born in 2004, Syrian).

On August 10, 2026, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the section’s patrols successfully apprehended him in a well-laid ambush in the Bourj el-Barajneh area.

Legal procedures were carried out against him and he was handed over to the competent judicial authority, pursuant to the instructions of the relevant judiciary.

In this context, the Internal Security Forces remind parents of the need to educate their children about the dangers of communicating with strangers or untrusted individuals via social media platforms, and to refrain from sharing photos or personal information with them.

The forces also appeal to anyone who experiences any attempt at threats or extortion not to yield to the blackmailer or comply with their demands, but instead to preserve evidence and immediately report the incident to the competent authorities, as early reporting contributes to protecting victims and pursuing perpetrators.
