The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement:

On today's date, 02-11-2026, following the circulation on social media of a video showing a citizen subjecting an officer from the Zgharta Traffic Unit of the Internal Security Forces to insults, humiliation, and swearing while he was under the pedestrian bridge opposite the Miniyeh/Danniyeh Caimacamate building. A checkpoint had been set up to monitor traffic violations, and the officer remained alone at the location after the checkpoint ended to complete procedures related to violating motorcycles. The aforementioned citizen also directed insults and humiliations at the officers and their responsible commander, while his son filmed the incident.

The assault occurred after rumors reached the father that his son and daughter, who were on a motorcycle without license plates, had been pushed by one of the checkpoint officers, causing them to fall to the ground. It is noted that one of the circulated videos shows that the officer did not push the motorcycle but rather attempted to remove its key to prevent escape, resulting in a collision with another officer's foot.

Consequently, the Information Branch worked to arrest the father, while his son later surrendered himself to the Miniyeh Police Station. Additionally, necessary disciplinary measures were taken against the officer for failing to take appropriate steps to put an end to the insults and swearing, in accordance with powers stipulated in the law.

The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
