Health setback postpones questioning of Riad Salameh before the Public Prosecution

The Public Prosecutor Judge Samrinda Nassar postponed to a later date the questioning of former Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon Riad Salameh and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Audi Samir Hanna, in the lawsuit filed against them by the Central Bank of Lebanon, after Salameh suffered a health setback while heading to the Palace of Justice in Beirut.

The National News Agency reported that a patrol from the Central Criminal Investigations Department, backed by a force from the Information Division, had moved to Salameh's home in the town of Safra to bring him in, in execution of the arrest warrant issued against him by the Public Prosecutor Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, but they did not find him at home.

It added that Salameh's lawyer, attorney Wassim Ghaoui, pledged to bring his client to the Palace of Justice voluntarily. While Salameh was heading to the Palace of Justice, he suffered a health setback, prompting lawyer Ghaoui to request permission from the Public Prosecution to return him to his home to be examined by his doctor.

The Public Prosecution approved the request, and consequently the interrogation session was postponed to a date to be determined later.
