Human Rights Committee Visits Roumieh Prison as 600 Inmates Continue Hunger Strike for Day 25
Approximately 600 inmates in Lebanese prisons continue their open-ended hunger strike on the 25th day, prompting a visit by human rights committees to Roumieh prison.

Approximately 600 prisoners in several Lebanese jails are continuing their open-ended hunger strike for the twenty-fifth consecutive day. This includes inmates in buildings "B" and "D" at Roumieh Prison, as well as detainees in Jbeil Jenin, Baalbek, and Rashaya prisons.
Roumieh Prison witnessed a field visit yesterday, Tuesday, from both the National Prevention of Torture Committee and the Lebanese Center for Human Rights. The human rights bodies met with a number of striking prisoners and listened to their demands and complaints regarding detention conditions and healthcare.
The Committee of Prisoners' Families in Lebanon stated that it appreciates the visit, noting that the meeting addressed health conditions inside the prison, the handling of strikers during transfers to hospitals and the provision of care, in addition to prisoners' demands for accelerating the reinstatement of the general amnesty law.
On the ground, a spokesperson for the prisoners reported that the number of critical cases among the strikers has risen to 64 as of noon today, Wednesday. Among them are two elderly prisoners in Baalbek Prison, identified as "M.Q." and "E.R.", confirming that both are in critical health condition.
In their daily message, prisoners in Roumieh raised a banner reading: "Day 25 of the General Amnesty Strike... Our only demand is release through the General Amnesty Law," affirming the continuation of their movement and adherence to their demand.
