Despite positive news circulating regarding the general amnesty law, approximately 600 prisoners in several Lebanese prisons are continuing their hunger and medication strike for the twenty-ninth consecutive day.

The prisoners' spokesperson stated that the number of critical health cases among the strikers has risen to 75 as of Sunday morning, distributed across the participating prisons.

He added that two strikers at Roumieh prison were transferred to the hospital yesterday after Saturday following a deterioration in their health condition, noting that those refusing medication represent the most affected group so far.

In his daily briefing, the spokesperson said that the positive news circulating about the amnesty law created an atmosphere of optimism within the prisons and strengthened prisoners' hopes for the law's reinstatement, but he described this optimism as "cautious," awaiting the official outcome.

A banner raised by Roumieh prisoners today reflected this mix of hope and anticipation; they welcomed the circulating promises but emphasized that "only the decision ends the wait," warning that further delay means more victims and demanding the release of the general amnesty law.

The strikers are distributed between buildings "B" and "D" in Roumieh prison, in addition to the Jbeil Jenin, Baalbek, and Rashaya prisons, amid anticipation for the resolution of the general amnesty law's fate.
