The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that specialized units foiled an attempt to smuggle a massive shipment of advanced weapons on the Syrian-Iraqi border, seizing it before it could be brought into Syrian territory.
The Ministry said via its channel on "Telegram" that "the operation came after monitoring a parked vehicle within the border zone under suspicious circumstances, where it was subjected to inspection, resulting in the seizure of a weapons shipment that included long-range missiles, guided anti-tank missiles, and drones."

The Ministry added: "Preliminary investigations proved, based on the evidence and clues gathered during the operation, that the shipment was prepared to transit through Syrian territory towards Lebanon for the benefit of the terrorist Hezbollah militia, while investigations continue to uncover all circumstances of the case, identify all those involved, and the networks linked to it."

The Ministry affirmed that "protecting borders and preserving national sovereignty are a non-negotiable priority, and that it will not allow Syrian territory to be exploited as a corridor or launchpad for arms smuggling or carrying out any activities that threaten the security of the Syrian Arab Republic or neighboring countries."
