The following statement was issued by the Ministry of Health:

"Following the registration of suspected cases of trichinellosis, the Ministry of Public Health is monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant authorities through epidemiological investigations and necessary laboratory tests, aiming to identify sources of infection and take appropriate measures to protect public health."

It clarified that "trichinellosis is a parasitic disease transmitted to humans through the consumption of raw or undercooked meat, particularly infected pork and its derivatives. The disease does not transmit directly from person to person. The incubation period ranges from two weeks to 8 weeks after consuming the contaminated meal."

It stated: "Symptoms usually begin with gastrointestinal disturbances including nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, which may be followed by fever, muscle pain, severe fatigue, and swelling around the eyes. In severe cases, complications affecting the heart, nervous system, and respiratory system may occur."

In this context, it called on citizens to adhere to the following preventive guidelines:

Avoid consuming raw or undercooked meat.

Purchase meat from reliable and regulated sources.

Do not consider freezing, salting, or smoking as guaranteed methods to eliminate the parasite.

Adhere to hygiene and food safety rules when preparing meat.

Consult a doctor if suspected symptoms appear after consuming raw or undercooked meat.

It emphasized "the importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment to limit complications."

It warned "restaurant owners, butchers, and meat suppliers against any fraud or tampering with the type, source, or expiration date of meats, confirming the follow-up of violations in coordination with competent regulatory and judicial authorities, and taking necessary legal actions against violators."
