The Israeli army is currently studying new ways to counter Hezbollah's drones equipped with optical fibers, according to what the Hebrew newspaper "Maariv" revealed.
The newspaper said it was decided to place an air observer with every force moving in southern Lebanon, whose mission is limited to monitoring and identifying any potential threat from the drones.
The Israeli army also bought thousands of meters of nets designated for fishing and soccer goals, to cover all sites and fortifications, and to prevent being targeted by drones of this type.
The Israeli army command also instructed its forces to activate the "machine guns" weapon, to fire a barrage of bullets at every drone approaching army sites or its forces.
Likewise, the Israeli army is studying the use of other ready-made defensive means, such as "fragmentation shells," which are ammunition designed to explode above or upon impact with the target.
Nor does the possibility of using fast drones, which can pounce on Hezbollah's offensive drones and throw a net over them preventing them from continuing movement, fall off the Israeli army's agenda in this regard.
During the last few days, the Israeli Ministry of Defense issued a call to all bodies and institutions of the Israeli military industries to find solutions leading to confronting the danger of drones equipped with optical fibers.
The Hebrew newspaper pointed out that "so far, none of the systems presented have passed the initial tests."
The Israeli army confirms that in addition to the measures taken in this regard, the Israeli forces in Lebanon adhere to strict defensive training, including exercises on how to protect oneself and avoid being targeted by explosive drones, according to "Maariv" newspaper.
