Israeli Media: Army to Launch Attacks on Lebanon in Coming Hours

Israeli media reported today, Friday, that the Israeli army will launch attacks on Lebanon in the coming hours.

According to reports, explosions may be heard in areas including western Galilee, Wadi al-Huleh, and the Ramim mountain range, extending to northern Golan, without clarity on the nature of the targets intended or the scope of the possible operations.

Meanwhile, correspondents from both Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels in Lebanon reported two Israeli airstrikes on Al Mansouri, while a third strike targeted Al Nabatiyah al-Fuqaha in southern Lebanon.

This follows hours after Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced that the Israeli army had removed Hezbollah fighters from tunnels beneath the strategic Mount Ali al-Tahir in southern Lebanon, though the Iran-backed group has not yet commented on the matter.

Israel claims that Hezbollah fighters are entrenched in tunnels beneath the hill, which overlooks a wide area that has become one of the most intense confrontation zones in the war between Israel and Hezbollah, despite the ceasefire declaration in June.

Katz said on social media, "The mission is complete and the tunnels have been cleared of terrorists," following a statement issued by the army late Thursday evening stating it now holds operational control over the hill. The Israeli army said some Hezbollah fighters were "eliminated," while others fled.

In turn, a Lebanese army official confirmed that Israeli forces had taken control of the southern entrances to the tunnel network and were now able to monitor the northern entrances using surveillance drones.

He added that the network includes various tunnels and storage areas, some of which are not connected to each other, noting it remains unclear how far forces have advanced inside the network, whether any fighters remain there, or if parts of the network have been booby-trapped.

It is believed that Hezbollah established an underground command center and weapon storage facilities in the area of the hill.

Israel has expanded its military presence across vast areas of southern Lebanon since launching a new military campaign against Hezbollah in March.
