Jaber Signs Project to Cancel Tariff Increase on Industrial Imports

Minister of Finance Yassine Jaber signed a decree project aimed at canceling the increase in tariffs on imports subject to tariff items (322) and (522) under Decree No. 3754 dated 27/8/2026, and referred it to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

Under this project, these imports will revert to being subject to the rates specified in the customs tariff table No. 1 annexed to Law No. 38 dated 5/1/2026.

This measure benefits importers who prove their industrial status, according to the conditions set forth in the supplementary explanations of the customs tariff. Thus, support reaches Lebanese factories directly and remains restricted to those who qualify.

The decree project aligns with the government’s policy to encourage national industries and enhance their international competitiveness.

Minister Jaber emphasized that “this step aims to support Lebanese industrialists by reducing production costs, ultimately leading to lower prices for Lebanese consumers and fostering competition with imported goods.”

He noted that “the Ministry of Finance is working to balance public revenue requirements with support for productive sectors, which are a cornerstone of economic recovery and job creation.”
