Catholicos Aram I Keshishian of the Armenian Orthodox Church of the House of Cilicia visited Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Ra'i in Bkerke in a show of solidarity following insults directed at the patriarch on social media.

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Ra'i received at the patriarchal headquarters in Bkerke, Catholicos of the Armenian Orthodox Church of the House of Cilicia Aram I Keshishian in a solidarity visit with Al-Ra'i after the insults directed at him via social media.
He had said in a statement: "We strongly condemn and reject any assault or insult targeting any spiritual authority in Lebanon, as this unacceptable act contradicts the moral and spiritual values that form the basis of coexistence in Lebanon. Such behavior towards any religious authority also harms its mission, which transcends the narrow sectarian scope to become rooted in the core of the national entity and its unity. Spiritual leaders are not merely religious symbols, but rather guardians of human, moral, and spiritual values, entrusted with transmitting them to future generations."
Keshishian indicated that "in this context, we express our full solidarity with His Beatitude and Eminence Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Ra'i, and we consider that any insulting or offensive statements targeting his person or position constitute an offense directed at all spiritual authorities without exception. Tampering with these symbols is a blow to the unity of the people and to the foundations of coexistence upon which our homeland Lebanon was established. The laws in the country are also clear in rejecting such offenses and holding accountable anyone who crosses these boundaries. In this delicate phase the homeland is going through, we call for avoiding divisive rhetoric and actions, and for confining differences of opinion to the political and civilized framework."
He added: "Today, Lebanon is in dire need of solidarity, unity, and dialogue. Accordingly, let us preserve the principle of mutual respect among all sects and officials, to safeguard the spirit of one Lebanon and our shared mission."
