Lebanese Tourism Minister Highlights Beach Pollution's Impact on Visitor Confidence
Tourism Minister Laura Lahoud stresses that pollution of Lebanon's beaches directly undermines visitor trust and calls for sustainable solutions.

Tourism Minister Laura Lahoud praised the role of the National Council for Scientific Research and the National Center for Marine Sciences in releasing the report on the environmental monitoring results of Lebanon's coastline for 2026. She described the report as a necessary, reliable national reference, emphasizing that the coastline is a fundamental part of Lebanon's image domestically and internationally, and that sea pollution directly affects visitor confidence.
Minister Lahoud took part in a conference attended by Environment Minister Tamara Zein, Public Works and Transport Minister Faiz Rassamni, and the Secretary-General of the National Council for Scientific Research, Shadi Abdullah.
During the event, Lahoud addressed the issue of maritime property and the importance of finding a sustainable, fair, and clear solution. She stressed that those who respect the beach should not be treated the same as those who pollute it, highlighting the existence of public rights and the responsibility of all beach users to comply with the law and protect the environment.
She added that addressing the condition of the coastline requires coordinated efforts from municipalities, ministries, civil society, the private sector, and citizens. Lahoud affirmed that the current government possesses a serious will to handle these issues transparently and pragmatically.
