Lebanon Affirms Solidarity and Cooperation with Syria, Says Mufti Daryan
Lebanese Mufti Abdul Latif Daryan expressed Lebanon’s continued solidarity and cooperation with Syria during a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani.

Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, received Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani at Dar Al-Fatwa. Al-Shaibani was accompanied by the Syrian Chargé d’Affaires in Lebanon, Eyad Hazaa, and a delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting was attended by prominent Lebanese religious figures including Sheikh Mohammad Assaf, head of the Sunni Sharia courts in Lebanon; Sheikh Amin Al-Kurdi, Secretary of Fatwa in Lebanon; Mufti of Tripoli Sheikh Mohammad Tarek Imam; Mufti of Zahle and Bekaa Sheikh Ali Al-Ghazawi; Mufti of Sidon and its districts Sheikh Salim Sousan; Mufti of Baalbek and Hermel Sheikh Ayman Zaid Al-Rifai; Mufti of Rashaya Sheikh Wafiq Hijazi; Mufti of Hasbaya and Marjeyoun Sheikh Hassan Dali; Mufti of Tyre Sheikh Madar Hebal; Secretary of Fatwa in Tripoli Sheikh Bilal Baroudi; Director General of Islamic Endowments Sheikh Mohammad Anis Al-Arouadi; Inspector General of Endowments Sheikh Osama Haddad; Director General of the Zakat Fund Sheikh Zuhair Kabi; Director General of Muhammad Khaled Social Institutions Ahmed Dandan; and Director of the Dar Al-Fatwa Health Center Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Khatib.
According to the media office at Dar Al-Fatwa, the discussions focused on Islamic and national affairs, strengthening bilateral relations, and the importance of consultation, communication, cooperation, and coordination between Lebanon and Syria. Al-Shaibani conveyed greetings from Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara and his affection for Lebanon and its people to Mufti Daryan.
Mufti Daryan praised the efforts and initiatives of President Al-Shara, highlighting his concern for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, Arab identity, and the extension of his authority over all Lebanese territories. He emphasized the great importance of Al-Shaibani’s visit to Lebanon amid the difficult circumstances the country is experiencing.
He stated, “Lebanon will remain in solidarity and cooperation with Syria and all brotherly Arab countries, away from the axes and conflicts that threaten the security of Lebanon and the Arab region.”
Daryan also extended his greetings and prayers to President Al-Shara, his government, and people, appreciating their sincere fraternal sentiment and concern for Lebanon, its people, and its legitimate institutions serving all Lebanese citizens.
As a token of love and appreciation, Mufti Daryan presented Al-Shaibani with a Dar Al-Fatwa medal.
