Driyan: We Stand with the Army and Support It in Maintaining National Stability

Lebanese Republic Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Drayyan received Member of Parliament Adbel Masih Adib, who said after the meeting: "Given the critical stage our country is going through, especially the recent rapid and painful events affecting our beloved south, it was imperative for me to come to the esteemed Dar al-Fatwa to meet His Eminence, seeking his blessings above all, and to receive his guidance and advice regarding these circumstances."

He emphasized that "coming to Dar al-Fatwa carries meaning; each person going to their own sect today is the greatest mistake we commit in this country." He stressed the need to "turn toward the Lebanese state and the spirit of coexistence we recently recalled through Patriarch Hayek’s visit to Deir el-Qamar, reminding us how Lebanon was built on the foundations of coexistence, unity, democracy, and peace. Today, we must always focus on this principle so that our internal conflicts do not allow others to prevail—so that countries meddling with our security in Lebanon do not succeed."

"From this standpoint, His Eminence was clear today: we must all stand behind the state, join hands together, and refrain from internal disputes that only lead to division and chaos. Our primary task must be standing behind the state, behind the President of the Republic, behind the Prime Minister and his cabinet, and most importantly, behind the Lebanese Army and armed forces," he added.

He noted that "the Lebanese Army needs moral support from us more than material aid—unity of hands, a genuine national integration, not just talk but action, so that we all reach safety together." He concluded: "Our message today is one of national unity and standing behind the Lebanese state and the Lebanese Army."

Grand Mufti Drayyan also received Army Commander General Rudolph Hikkel, discussing the current situation on the Lebanese scene. The Grand Mufti praised "the army’s role and its wise leadership in safeguarding national security," affirmed his "solidarity with the army and its support in maintaining the country’s stability and integrity," and highlighted "the heroism and sacrifices the Lebanese Army has made and continues to make in confronting the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and in preserving security and stability across the nation."
