MP Fouad Makhzoumi considered that "what happened to the Lebanese in terms of displacement and forced migration, in addition to the massive economic losses, was due to Hezbollah and the destructive war it dragged us into."

Makhzoumi said: "If there had been actual and real coordination with the Mechanism Committee, after the ceasefire agreement in November 2024, its work would not have frozen, and we would not have faced most of the problems we faced, and the Lebanese army would have succeeded in completing its mission in the south."

Pointing out that "Israel was occupying 5 points in the south, and today it is operating in about 80 villages because of the war that Hezbollah dragged us into in support of Iran."

Makhzoumi affirmed, "We are betting on the Lebanese negotiating delegation in Washington, and the expertise of Ambassador Simon Karam and Ambassador Nada Muawad to reach positive and fruitful results in the direct negotiations with Israel."

He pointed out that "the Lebanese government is working hard to implement what is required of it within the framework of disarming Hezbollah, but unfortunately, to this day, what is required of it has not been implemented as it should," considering that "the United States of America is the only one capable of pressuring Israel to adhere to the ceasefire, and US President Donald Trump promised that he would help Lebanon, support the army, and help rebuild the south, and today we have no option but this."

Makhzoumi added: "What happened to the Lebanese in terms of displacement and forced migration, in addition to the massive economic losses, was due to Hezbollah and the destructive war it dragged us into. If Hezbollah refuses to hand over its weapons and does not want to implement the government's decisions taken on August 5 and 7, 2025 and March 2, 2026, the only option available is to implement paragraph 14 of UN Resolution 1701, which allows the Lebanese government to request military assistance from allies and friends in the region."
