Ministry of Public Works Ensures Beirut Airport Operation Through Settlement with Electricité du Liban
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced a settlement with Electricité du Liban to secure electricity supply for Rafic Hariri International Airport, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport expressed its appreciation for the cooperation of the Ministry of Energy and Water and "Electricité du Liban," which led to resolving the issue of electrical supply to Rafic Hariri International Airport, thereby guaranteeing its continuous operation without interruption.
The ministry affirmed its commitment to settling the dues owed to Electricité du Liban, having previously paid a significant portion thereof, noting that the remaining amounts will be subject to auditing and calculation in accordance with proper procedures, paving the way for their payment in installments.
It clarified that the accumulation of dues is primarily due to the rise in electricity tariffs, without a parallel increase in the allocations earmarked for this purpose within the ministry's budget.
In this context, it referred to the previous approval by the Council of Ministers of a draft law to open an additional credit worth 100 million US dollars to cover electricity expenses for public administrations, contributing to addressing the resulting financial burdens.
The ministry stressed the continuation of coordination with relevant parties, safeguarding the rights of all sides and ensuring the regularity of work at the airport.
