No cancellation of transfers or interference with balances... Hajj clarifies the restructuring file
Minister of Communications Charles Hajj clarifies that user payments are being made, but part of the revenue is not reaching companies or the treasury due to an unauthorized network exploiting a service meant for public convenience.
Wrote Minister of Telecommunications Charles Hajj on his X account: "For clarification regarding the restructuring issue: citizens are paying, but part of this revenue is not reaching either companies or the treasury."
He added, "I noticed discrepancies in revenues and requested an audit, which revealed the existence of a network using a service originally designed to facilitate citizens' lives in an untargeted manner, causing revenue leakage."
He continued, "No decision has been issued yet by the Ministry of Telecommunications, and there is no set date for any action. Any future step will not affect subscribers' service before ensuring a formal alternative that maintains access to the service at an affordable price, especially for low-income individuals."
He concluded, "Balances are preserved, and transfers between subscribers have not been canceled as some claim. The requirement is simple: stop the leakage, not the citizen."
