Official Follow-up on Activating Planning and Rebuilding the Nabatiye Heritage Market

Director General of Civil Planning Engineer Ali Ramadan, accompanied by Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Satea Arnaout, visited the city of Nabatiye, where they held a meeting at the newly established municipal headquarters with the mayor, members of the municipal council, and the municipal engineering team.

According to a statement, "the city's needs were presented in terms of activating the master planning study, particularly in light of reconstruction requirements and urban fabric regulation, ensuring citizens' rights and establishing a balanced planning approach for the coming phase."

The participants also conducted an on-site inspection of the Nabatiye market site, assessing the current conditions to explore appropriate regulatory solutions for reconstruction, "respecting individual property rights while preserving the city’s spatial memory and unique urban identity."

The visit included meetings with regional deputy Representative Nasser Jabber and Imam of Nabatiye Sheikh Abdul Hussein Sadik, during which "the historical significance of the Nabatiye market was reaffirmed, along with the necessity of rebuilding it according to an architectural style that safeguards the market’s memory and urban character, while respecting owners’ and right-holders’ rights."

Engineer Ramadan emphasized that the General Directorate of Civil Planning is closely following this file, noting the formation of an internal committee within the directorate that meets weekly to focus on activating planning and regulatory work in Nabatiye, "aiding reconstruction efforts in line with a vision that protects rights and identity and ensures orderly urban development for the city."
