Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi received at the Patriarchal Seat in Bkerke MP Charbel Massaad accompanied by a delegation from the villages of east Sidon and Jezzine. It was an occasion to review the current situation.
MP Massaad said after the meeting: "Today I had the honor, with the accompanying delegation, of visiting His Beatitude the Patriarch to thank him for his visit to the villages of east Sidon and Jezzine, and for the sense of security and reassurance that this visit left among the people of the region. It was also an occasion to consult with His Beatitude on how to support these steadfast villages before and during the war, and on how we can carry out some projects, including a hospital construction project in Kfarfalous with the university, and we discussed the details with His Beatitude on this matter."
He added: "We also touched on the subject of civil peace, which is for us a red line. We told His Beatitude that differences in politics are legitimate and enrich democratic life in Lebanon, but these differences in opinion must not be reflected in creating chaos and conflicts in the street."
He concluded: "We stressed, as we always say, that in times of divisions and wars one must stand by the state, and this is a duty and not a choice."
