Pope Francis Sends Message of Support and Prayer to Lebanese President
Pope Francis conveyed his ongoing care and prayers for Lebanon and its people in a message to President Joseph Aoun.

President Joseph Aoun received a message from His Holiness Pope Francis, reaffirming the pope’s sincere affection for Lebanon and its diverse communities, while emphasizing his continuous concern and prayers for the Lebanese people.
The pope urged, "Let us continue to dedicate all our energies to serving peace and the common good," invoking divine blessings upon Lebanon and its citizens.
This communication was part of a reply from the Holy Father to President Aoun’s letter marking the first anniversary of Pope Francis’s election by the Sacred College as successor to Pope Benedict XVI.
In his original letter, President Aoun highlighted the exceptional and grave circumstances Lebanon currently faces. He noted that the tensions and conflicts surrounding Lebanon, along with their profound impact on the country’s internal stability, expose the nation to unprecedented challenges. Under these conditions, the steadfast position of the Holy See, its constant closeness, and its repeated interventions on behalf of the Lebanese people demonstrate solidarity that honors their shared history. The president expressed deep appreciation for the pope’s appeals to end violence, uphold human rights, and protect the most vulnerable groups in Lebanon.
