President Aoun Discusses with Al-Hout the Decision to Resume US Airlines Flights to Beirut
President Joseph Aoun discussed with Middle East Airlines CEO Mohammad al-Hout the US decision to resume American airline flights to Beirut after a 41-year halt, and the necessary procedures from the Lebanese side.

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun discussed with the Chairman of the Board, Director General of Middle East Airlines, Mr. Mohammad al-Hout, the decision taken by US President Donald Trump during his meeting with President Aoun, to resume US airlines operating their flights to Beirut, after a halt that lasted ٤١ years, and the procedures to be adopted by the Lebanese side to achieve that.
Mr. al-Hout welcomed the US decision, thanking President Aoun for his efforts to revive the Beirut – New York line, which had stopped four decades ago, noting that "Middle East" aircraft can provide this direct line, and that the company will soon receive additional aircraft to strengthen its air fleet. He pointed out that arrangements will be made in coordination with the American side, before putting the decision to open the line into effect from both the Lebanese and American sides.
Furthermore, President Aoun praised the role played by Middle East Airlines in connecting Lebanon to the world, despite the circumstances that Lebanon and the region are going through, commending the performance of its management and all its employees.
