President of the Republic Joseph Aoun announced that "reform begins from within, not from outside, and Lebanon is rich in its human energies both at home and abroad alike, and it is of great importance to activate these energies and give them appropriate opportunities."

President Aoun added, in a speech before the general assembly of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, that "the existing crisis cannot be summarized as merely an economic crisis, but rather it is a crisis of trust between the state and the people, and between Lebanon and abroad, and you, with what you represent of council and individual capabilities, constitute the bridge to rebuild this trust, and we rely on you in that and support you in your tasks based on the importance of activating your role in this context alongside your tasks."

He said: "You must play your role even in the laws issued in the Parliament, so do not be lenient in it and do not allow anyone to take your place."

He added: "I hope that the current crisis ends and with it the suffering of the Lebanese, especially our people in the south, to put Lebanon back on track."

He continued: "If all the world's riches were found in our land and there was no sound will, it would be impossible to invest in these riches, as there is no bankrupt, rich, or poor country, but rather a country whose state has mismanaged its resources, and this is the Lebanese reality."

He stressed that he "continues his efforts to reopen Arab markets, especially Gulf markets, to Lebanese products, and we are also working to restore confidence that has been shaken due to several factors in the past period."
