President Joseph Aoun assured Akkar municipalities that state institutions will support the region, beginning with reopening Rene Moawad International Airport for commercial flights.

President Joseph Aoun received a delegation from the municipalities of the Akkar region, affirming that Akkar "has never been outside the state, but the state was distant from it." He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that state institutions and administrations stand alongside the people of the region.
The president highlighted that the practical start of this commitment was marked by reopening Rene Moawad International Airport in Qulayaat to commercial flights, describing this as a fundamental step toward enhancing development and services in Akkar.
He explained that the launch of comprehensive developmental progress across various Lebanese regions was hindered by the war. Nonetheless, he reaffirmed steadfastness in achieving balanced development, in accordance with the Taif Agreement, the presidential oath speech, and the ministerial statement.
The president reiterated his dedication to working toward "one state that protects all Lebanese and preserves their rights." He urged municipal leaders to serve those who elected them rather than the opposite and called for their municipalities to adopt sound and transparent management practices for the benefit of citizens.
