Here are the private generator rates for September
The Ministry of Energy and Water announced the fair pricing for private electric generators for September, detailing costs based on location and amperage capacity.

The Ministry of Energy and Water announced in a statement issued by its media office that the fair price for private electric generator tariffs for the month of September is as follows:
52.840 LBP per kilowatt-hour.
- For subscribers with meters in cities or densely populated areas or at an altitude of less than 700 meters: - Capacity 5 amps: 385.000 LBP + Monthly fixed charge 52.840 LBP per kilowatt-hour.
- Capacity 10 amps: 685.000 LBP + Monthly fixed charge x 52.840 LBP per kilowatt-hour.
58.124 LBP per kilowatt-hour.
- For subscribers with meters in villages or remote areas or at an altitude of more than 700 meters: - Capacity 5 amps : 385.000 LBP (fixed) + Monthly fixed charge x 58.124 LBP per kilowatt/hour.
- Capacity 10 amps : 685.000 LBP (fixed) + Monthly fixed charge x 58.124 LBP per kilowatt/hour.
An additional 300.000 LBP is added to the fixed part of the meter tariff for every additional 5 amps.
This tariff is based on the average price of a canister of diesel (20 liters) in September, which amounted to 2.675.217 LBP, after calculating all expenses, benefits, and costs of the generators, in addition to a good profit margin for their owners. We took into consideration, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the cost of distributing the canister from the fuel station to the generator.
It takes into account in its calculation essential components such as the cost of oils and filters and the depreciation of the generator, the monthly average exchange rate of the dollar in the parallel market, which reached 89.700 LBP.
This tariff was issued based on the calculation table approved by the Ministry of Energy since October 14, 2010; and in application of Cabinet Decision No. 2 dated December 14, 2011, regarding taking the necessary measures to regulate the tariff of private generators, and based on the joint implementation mechanism between ministries (Interior and Economy) announced on December 20, 2011, which defined the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Water in disseminating the tariff of private generators based on diesel prices at the end of each month.
The Ministry of Energy and Water called on generator owners to "comply with the decision of the Ministry of Economy and Trade mandating the installation of meters, and it will conduct a documented study in this regard in the coming period to update the adopted equation so that it becomes more and more compatible with fluctuations in exchange rates and the economic and social situation of citizens, while taking into account the requirements of private generator owners."
The ministry also announced that it sent letters to the Ministries of Interior and Economy regarding the tariff for September 2026 to take the necessary action according to the joint regulation mechanism.
The ministry drew the attention of private generator owners and respected citizens to the inadmissibility of adding the following items to the indicative tariff issued by the ministry:
1- Value Added Tax not legally justified by official registration in the TVA Directorate at the Ministry of Finance.
2- Fees or additional amounts under any pretext such as the cost of maintaining a generator or networks, etc...
3- Additional fees for citizens who use solar energy devices alongside private generators.
The ministry urged those concerned with consumer protection, especially the Ministry of Economy and Trade, to tighten supervision over the proper application of the above indicative tariff and to take maximum measures against violators, accompanied by the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities and the competent judiciary.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Energy and Water attaches hereto the detailed breakdown table of the indicative tariff and will also publish this table on the official website: www.energyandwater.gov.lb
