Salim: Insisting on the Presence of an International Force in the South
Prime Minister Nouf Salam affirmed Lebanon's official stance supporting the continued presence of the UNIFIL force in the south, emphasizing its critical monitoring, coordination, and communication roles.

Prime Minister Nouf Salam received a parliamentary delegation headed by MP Mloum Khallouf, who presented him with a copy of a letter signed by 86 MPs supporting the continuation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission.
The delegation included MPs: Boulal Al-Hachimi, Agop Bkoudounian, Jamil Abou, Adnan Trablsi, Fared Al-Boustani, Michel Moussa, Yassine Yassine, Agop Tertzian, Boulal Abdullah, Haydar Nasser, Emad Al-Hout, Najat Soliba, Ibrahim Munaymeh, Paula Yacoubian, Suleiman Al-Sayegh, Faras Hamdan, and Walid Al-Ba'ri.
Salam said: "I thank the MPs for their initiative, and I reaffirm once again that the official Lebanese position insists on the need for an international force in the south to carry out three core tasks: monitoring and reporting, coordination and communication. I have personally conveyed Lebanon's clear stance on this matter to the UN Secretary-General during his visit to Beirut and in subsequent communications, and he expressed understanding of the necessity to continue the presence of an international force in the south, replacing UNIFIL, as reflected in his latest report on the subject."
