Trees with Victims' Names... Hani: Lebanese Determined to Keep the Truth Alive

Minister of Agriculture Dr. Nizar Hani participated in commemorating the sixth anniversary of the Beirut port explosion during a national ceremony held at the Martyrs Garden of the Beirut Port, where olive trees were planted—each bearing the name of one of the victims—transforming the garden into a living national landmark that unites earth and memory, embodying loyalty to those who passed and steadfast commitment to truth and justice.

Responding to a question, Minister Hani affirmed that this anniversary is not merely a temporal milestone but a renewed pledge to preserve the names of the victims and safeguard national memory, stressing that six years have not diminished the pain of the Lebanese people, but rather strengthened their resolve to keep the truth alive until justice is achieved.

He pointed out that the choice of the olive tree was not incidental, but rooted in its deep symbolism as a representation of peace, resilience, and endurance, and as a witness to the passing of generations—just as the names of the victims will remain present in the hearts of the Lebanese people.
