Unprecedented Syrian Government Delegation in Beirut: Six Ministers and Key Issues on the Agenda

A high-level Syrian government delegation will visit Lebanon tomorrow, Tuesday, in a visit that is unprecedented since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, aiming to discuss a wide range of shared issues between Beirut and Damascus, particularly in economic, service, and investment fields.

According to reports by «Syria TV» citing special sources, the delegation includes six ministers: Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammad Nadhal Al-Shaer, Minister of Agriculture Bassel Hafiz Al-Sweidan, Minister of Tourism Mazen Al-Salihani, Minister of Education and Higher Education Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turk, Minister of Transport Yaroub Suleiman Bader, and Minister of Health Musab Al-Ali.

The delegation also includes the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, the head of the Syrian Investment Authority Ahmad Ruad Ramadan, the CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company Yousef Kablawi, along with several officials and representatives from Syrian government institutions.

The delegation is expected to hold extensive talks chaired by Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Matri, with participation from relevant Lebanese ministers and officials, followed by sector-specific meetings pairing Syrian ministers with their Lebanese counterparts to discuss specialized issues and ways to strengthen direct cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions will cover economic affairs, trade exchange, investment, energy, oil and gas, transportation and aviation, agriculture, health, education, tourism, as well as mechanisms to enhance coordination between ministries and official institutions in both countries, and addressing several outstanding joint files.

The visit program includes high-level political meetings, with the Syrian delegation expected to meet President Joseph Aoun and Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri.

On Wednesday, the Syrian delegation will also participate in the Lebanese-Syrian Business Forum, bringing together officials, business leaders, and private sector representatives from both countries to explore investment opportunities, revive trade flows, and expand areas of economic partnership.

This visit comes amid a rapidly accelerating process toward strengthening institutional relations between Beirut and Damascus, following a series of bilateral meetings, agreements, and discussions throughout 2026 covering political, economic, judicial, and transport matters, as part of a broader effort to enhance direct communication between state institutions in both countries.
