Upcoming Memorandum of Understanding Between US and Chinese Armies for Crisis Management

China and the United States have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding as soon as possible, aiming to strengthen communication between the armies of both countries in crisis situations and work on preventing them. According to "Sputnik" agency.

A formal Chinese statement issued today, Saturday, following state President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States, reported that "the Chinese and American armies agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on enhancing communication in crisis situations and preventing them as soon as possible."

This agreement comes within the framework of efforts by both countries to strengthen direct communication channels between armed forces and manage air and naval incidents and potential security risks to prevent the escalation of disputes.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday that US-China relations will be based on strategic stability, grounded in respect, fairness, and reciprocity, according to "Reuters" agency.

Xi added, speaking through an interpreter at the White House, that he agreed with US President Donald Trump to give new substance to relations between the United States and China.

He indicated the possibility of holding two additional meetings with his American counterpart this year, at the conclusion of an official visit to Washington.

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the United States last Thursday for an official visit lasting until Friday, September 25, accompanied by his wife Peng Liyuan, General Office Director of the Communist Party Cai Qi, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
