The US State Department announced the extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon for 45 days to enable further progress, and said it will resume the political track of negotiations on June 2 and 3.

It announced the launch of a security track at the Pentagon on May 29 with the participation of military delegations from Lebanon and Israel.
It expressed hope that these discussions would lead to "enhancing sustainable peace, full recognition of the sovereignty of both countries, and establishing genuine security along their shared borders."
