Lebanese judiciary nears conclusion of preliminary investigation into Hezbollah-linked explosives at Dahr al-Baydar, with new arrests and five suspects identified.

The Lebanese judiciary is nearing the conclusion of the preliminary investigation into the file concerning explosives belonging to "Hezbollah" found at Dahr al-Baydar. Reports indicate the arrest of a new individual, in addition to the two persons who were inside the truck transporting the explosives, identified as A.K. and H.A. The judicial source clarified that the arrests "still remain limited to two individuals." However, he confirmed to "Asharq Al-Awsat" that the investigation "revealed the identities of five other persons suspected of involvement in the case, including one named (Sajed), a security figure affiliated with (Hezbollah), suspected of delivering the explosives in Baalbek. Another suspect is named (Dhulfiqar), also holding a security status, who was supposed to receive the explosives in Beirut's southern suburbs. Additionally, the wife of H.A. and the owner of the truck carrying the explosives are among those identified."
Until the government decides whether or not to refer the file to the Justice Council, the judicial process is expected to continue before the Military Court. The judicial source announced that Judge Claude Ghanem "will focus on studying the records, matching confessions and evidence with legal provisions applicable to the acts attributed to the suspects; in preparation for determining the criminal descriptions upon which he will base the indictment against the detained and fugitive individuals."
He emphasized that the preliminary investigation "has succeeded in revealing the real names of those involved in the case, some of whom have had arrest warrants issued against them, which are currently being executed."
