With AI Assistance, Hezbollah Launches Cyberattacks on Israel
Hezbollah, backed by Iran, is using advanced cyber operations to target Israel even during ceasefire periods, according to Israeli media. The group has launched over 600 cyberattacks since October 7, aided by artificial intelligence.

Israeli media reported Wednesday that the Israeli military recognizes that Hezbollah militia, in coordination with Iran, is seeking to harm Israel through an electronic offensive system even during periods of ceasefire.
According to Channel 12 Hebrew, Hezbollah attempted over 600 cyberattacks against Israel during the war, while the Israeli military confirms the group has not achieved significant successes so far.
Data published by the Hebrew channel indicates that since October 7, Israel has faced more than 2,500 cyberattacks, with the increasing use of artificial intelligence enabling previously weak actors to carry out more sophisticated and precise attacks.
Iran and Hezbollah view cyber warfare as a covert campaign allowing them to continue harming Israel even during periods of calm.
During the war, Hezbollah carried out over 600 cyberattack attempts, while the Israeli military works to thwart the organization’s activities in this domain, confirming that Hezbollah has not recorded notable successes, according to the channel.
The cyber defense unit within the Information Technology and Communications Directorate, working alongside other security agencies, is countering Hezbollah’s offensive capabilities, aware that the threat extends beyond Lebanon to other Middle Eastern countries investing in developing offensive cyber capacities.
More than 2,500 cyberattacks have been carried out against Israel since October 7, which the Electronic Defense Brigade has countered through operational teams, penetration testing, and specialized intelligence systems.
The Hebrew channel noted that the nature of the threat has changed in recent years with the entry of artificial intelligence into the cyber arena, where it is now used to detect security vulnerabilities and execute attacks, raising the complexity of cyber operations and enabling weaker actors to conduct more advanced attacks.
The channel explained that the Cyber Defense Directorate is preparing to counter this evolution through advanced capabilities and adaptive training tailored to changing threats, to continue managing technological shifts in the cyber domain.
