Lebanon and Germany Sign Army Support Agreement in Beirut Meeting
Lebanon's army chief signed a cooperation agreement with German officials to support the military amid ongoing challenges.

An agreement to bolster the Lebanese army was signed Wednesday during a meeting between Army Commander General Rodolph Heikal and German Deputy Ambassador to Lebanon Jasmine Raya, accompanied by German Military Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Kai Zimmermann, at Heikal's office in Yarze. The pact falls under a broader program aimed at supporting the military.
General Heikal expressed gratitude to German authorities for their continued backing of the army, particularly given the current difficulties the country faces.
Separately, the army commander received Spanish Military Attaché Colonel Angel Santamaria Sánchez for a farewell visit marking the end of his mission in Lebanon. During the meeting, Sánchez introduced his successor, Colonel Jose Antonio Latorre Remon. Heikal praised the role of the Spanish contingent serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
