The official education unions announced in a statement that they, "on the sidelines of the meeting of the Public Sector Unions Assembly, discussed the emerging educational conditions, foremost among them the difficult living reality under which teachers and educators are suffering, in light of the continued policy of procrastination and disregard for the rights of public sector workers, especially members of the educational family who have become unable to secure the minimum requirements for a decent life."

The official education unions recalled that they "resorted two weeks ago to implementing partial strikes, and had positively received the referral of the draft law to open the necessary credits for the six salaries from the government to the Parliament, but the postponement of the legislative session led to further delay in approving and disbursing this meager increase, which has practically lost its actual value in the face of rising prices and high inflation."

They pointed out that "what is happening falls within the framework of a policy of evading responsibility and indifferent treatment of the suffering of teachers and educators, which is no longer acceptable under any pretext."

While they appreciated "the follow-ups carried out by the Public Sector Unions Assembly, which led to confirmation of the inclusion of the draft law to open credits on the agenda of the first legislative session," they warned of "the danger of any further delay or attempt to circumvent rights, due to its serious repercussions on the educational and social realities, and what that may entail of escalatory steps for which the political authority bears full responsibility."

They explained that "based on its awareness that the regular term of Parliament ends at the end of May, which also includes holiday and official vacation periods," they affirm "the necessity of calling for an urgent legislative session before Eid al-Adha to approve the opening of credits and disburse the dues immediately, away from any procrastination or pretexts that no longer fool anyone."

They stressed that "based on the foregoing, and to confirm the continuation of follow-up while giving a final opportunity to hold the legislative session before the last week of May and close this file," the "three unions commit to a strike on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in all official secondary schools, official schools, technical institutes, teacher training colleges, and educational guidance centers, in addition to those seconded to the Ministry of Education and the Educational Center for Research and Development," affirming "moving forward in their fundamental battle aimed at correcting salaries and returning them to what they were before 2019, approving full and complete rights, and incorporating them into the core salary, in a way that preserves the dignity of the teacher and educator, secures the minimum of living and educational stability, and protects the public school and its national role."
