Ben Affleck revealed Instagram banned his private accounts twice, noting they had only six followers and served as a tool to view his children's social media.

Instagram suspended Ben Affleck’s private profiles on two separate occasions because the platform flagged him as an impersonator of himself. The actor disclosed this unusual incident during a recent interview with Variety, offering a glimpse into his reluctance to engage with public social media platforms.
The banned profiles contained a mere six followers, according to Affleck. He explained that these accounts were not intended for public interaction but rather functioned as a mechanism for him to monitor the social media activity of his children and their friends. This approach allowed him access to family updates without maintaining a visible public persona.
Affleck emphasized his preference for keeping his personal life out of the digital spotlight. He contrasted his own stance with the online strategies employed by former partners Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner, whom he praised for their successful digital presence. While acknowledging the value of their work, he stated clearly that such an active social media identity does not align with his personal style.
Discussing the effort required to cultivate a social media brand, Affleck joked about the lack of compelling content in his daily routine. "What am I going to do, unbox something?" he asked, highlighting his disinterest in influencer-style activities. He admitted that he would likely fail as an influencer, preferring instead to protect his privacy from constant online scrutiny.
The actor noted that younger generations of performers face increasing pressure to build large online followings, a shift he believes has altered expectations for movie stars. Despite this changing landscape, Affleck remains committed to a private existence. "I experienced the whole world and had a whole life in private," he said, indicating that future public account attempts are unlikely.
Affleck’s public image continues to be shaped by viral moments rather than curated posts. He referenced the famous photograph of him smoking, which became a widespread meme. His daughter refers to him as the "beleaguered man" due to such instances, a description Affleck accepted as accurate to his feelings at the time.
While he avoids social media engagement, his career highlights remain prominent. Roles in films like Gone Girl and as Batman continue to define his professional legacy. These recognizable performances ensure his visibility in entertainment news, independent of any digital self-promotion.
