French Stewart Defends Anna Faris Against Chuck Lorre's Memoir Claims
Actor French Stewart publicly defended his former co-star Anna Faris, criticizing producer Chuck Lorre's negative remarks about her in his new memoir.

Former "Mom" cast member French Stewart has issued a sharp rebuttal to television producer Chuck Lorre following critical comments made about actress Anna Faris in Lorre’s recent memoir. The 62-year-old actor took to Facebook to praise Faris and express disappointment over the producer's portrayal of their time working together on the sitcom.
Stewart’s Public Defense of Co-Star
In his social media post, Stewart highlighted Faris as one of his favorite colleagues from his eight years on the show. He described her as funny, kind, prepared, and essential to the series' success. "She was Mom. The spine of the show. And a legit good person," Stewart wrote, emphasizing that he would not trade a single day of working with her.
The actor directly addressed Lorre’s remarks, stating he was disheartened by the producer's decision to criticize Faris in the book titled "Sitcom." Stewart offered a contrasting perspective on the two figures, noting that whenever he observed Faris, he saw someone dedicated to making a quality program. In comparison, he claimed that when watching Lorre, he saw a man struggling to suppress his own temper.
Context Behind the Memoir Controversy
Lorre’s memoir, released in October 2026, contains several assertions regarding his experience collaborating with Faris on "Mom." The producer wrote that his initial hesitation about casting the actress had ultimately been justified. Faris responded to these claims on social media shortly after they surfaced, indicating she had encountered statements she did not expect to see attributed to her.
Stewart is not the only individual to speak out in support of Faris since the book's release. Jaime Pressly, who portrayed Jill Kendall on the series, and Justin Long, a guest star during the first season, have also publicly backed the actress against Lorre’s comments.
