Photos from the wedding of Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson were posted by Ivanka Trump on social media, highlighting the absence of their father, Donald Trump. The president had previously addressed why he did not attend the ceremony, offering congratulations to the couple despite his absence.

Ivanka Trump’s Instagram featured moments from the intimate wedding, which reportedly took place on a private island in the Bahamas just before Memorial Day. The couple had secretly married days earlier, as confirmed by a Florida marriage license obtained by PEOPLE.

In her post, Ivanka wrote, “Still basking in the joy of these memories @donaldjtrumpjr and @bettinaeanderson ! Congratulations you two ! Love you !” Observers noted the president was not present in any of the photos shared from the event.

Donald Trump had explained on Truth Social that his absence was due to government responsibilities and the necessity of remaining at the White House during a critical period. He stated, “While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon-to-be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so.”

Despite his explanation and public congratulations to the newlyweds, the president’s niece, Mary Trump, who has been estranged from him since 2020, rejected his reasoning. She commented, “Give me a break. He doesn’t want to go because he can’t stand his kid.”
