Kim Kardashian filed a civil claim seeking €1 in symbolic compensation from several individuals convicted in connection with the October 2016 armed robbery at her Paris hotel suite, according to the lawyer representing the hotel’s front-desk employee — who is also a co-plaintiff in the case. The civil judgment was issued in May 2025.

What happened during the heist

During her courtroom testimony, Kardashian stated she believed she would die while being held at gunpoint by the perpetrators. The attackers — widely referred to in France as “the grandfather thieves” due to their advanced age — wore ski masks and impersonated police officers. The robbery was the largest of its kind in France in two decades.

Fate of the stolen jewelry

Most of the stolen jewelry remains unrecovered. This includes the engagement ring given to Kardashian by her then-husband, rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye.

Civil claims and outcomes

The hotel receptionist filed a separate civil claim seeking €500,000 in damages. His attorney confirmed he received approximately €110,000. Lawyers representing Kardashian in Paris did not respond to a request for comment.

Courtroom statements and sentencing

In court proceedings in 2025, Kardashian addressed Omar Ait Khedache — identified as the mastermind behind the robbery — who was 69 years old at the time of the trial. She told him she forgave him, though she emphasized that forgiveness did not erase the psychological trauma caused by the incident. Khedache received a three-year prison sentence. Seven other individuals were convicted on charges related to the crime.
