Kardashian disclosed her esophagitis diagnosis in The Kardashians Season 8 trailer, noting its anatomical link to her late father Robert Kardashian’s 2003 esophageal cancer.

Esophagitis — an inflammatory condition of the esophagus — has been diagnosed in Kim Kardashian, according to footage from the upcoming eighth season of The Kardashians. The revelation appears in the official trailer released ahead of the season’s October 8 premiere on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
In the trailer, Kardashian states plainly: “I have something called esophagitis.” An off-camera voice then asks whether that was the condition that caused her father Robert Kardashian’s death. She replies, “Yeah.”
Robert Kardashian died of esophageal cancer in 2003 at age 59, just weeks after his diagnosis. Esophagitis, by contrast, refers specifically to inflammation of the esophageal lining and is not synonymous with cancer. The trailer does not specify the cause, severity, or treatment plan for Kardashian’s condition.
This latest health disclosure follows a prior medical development featured in Season 7: Kardashian revealed she had been diagnosed with a small brain aneurysm. She later underwent additional imaging at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and told viewers, “everything works out.”
The anatomical overlap — both conditions involving the esophagus — gives the diagnosis particular emotional resonance for Kardashian. Her father’s death remains a defining event in the family narrative more than two decades later.
The same Season 8 trailer also previews other storylines, including Kendall Jenner addressing longstanding rumors about Cara Delevingne. But for Kardashian, the esophagitis moment stands apart due to its direct lineage connection.
The Kardashians Season 8 premieres October 8 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
